Door 4 Strategies
Getting Door 4 consistently is the most important 'tech' in this level when you are starting out. Eventually you will get it every time and focus on getting good bowser fights.
There are several ways of doing the shot. The Jumping Neutral presented here is faster than running neutral, which is also harder to mess up once its learned. It's a little bit harder to learn though, since the other Version requires nothing but a single timed shot at a certain spot.
The fastest strat is the fast locked cursor strategy while the regular locked cursor has the largest timing windows.
It is recommended to try the different strats and see what works best for you.
Jumping Neutral
- Start the jump between the 2 red lines (visual cue in the background should be obvious)
- Do a FULL jump (Read as: You hold jump until you reach the apex of your jump) -
- NOTE: Do NOT start a flutter or it won't work (This is probably the only tricky part about this - getting a high jump without going into a flutter
- Right as you release jump you will start falling
- This is where you will start a jump
The green line roughly represents the path Yoshi will take.
Running Neutral
The other strat is to run full speed right as soon as you enter the door and press A for a neutral egg at the right side of the 2nd window. You want to throw when Yoshi's body is underneath the line, not his head. The egg will miss door 4 if you throw too soon, and you'll mostly end up with door 3. This strategy has an 8 frame window

Locked Cursor Strategy
Another strategy, that has a larger frame window, is locking your cursor and throwing the egg right before the last window. See Timing Reference for all angles This is a 10-frame locking window into a 9-19 frame window with most being 12-15.
So while the frame windows are larger, it requires two actions but the cursor can be tried over again or even setup at start if you want to take it easier. If going full speed and you miss the cursor you can still do other strats as a backup.
Fast Locked Cursor Strategy
You can do the above strategy in a faster way but it requires the two lowest angles (2-frame window) with a 9-frame throw window (throw between the two first windows)
This saves ~15 frames over the jumping neutral shot
TODO: exact frame timings
Bowser fight
- Bowser takes 7 shots to be beaten.
- After the 3rd hit he will stop at how far away he is until you either hit him or he finishes his animation.

Specific delayed shots (fastest method) vs. throwing each egg ASAP comparison [3]
The delayed method is around 7-8 seconds faster than the consistent method and ~2 sec. faster than throwing ASAP.

Adjusting Locked Shots
Just as with normal eggs, throwing while jumping, or falling, results in your egg shot trajectory being altered. This can be used to adjust your shots if you locked your cursor slightly wrong. This will vary slightly but as a general rule:
- Throwing during a jump (moving upwards) equals one gradient ABOVE of cursor placement
- Throwing during a fall (moving downwards) equals one gradient BELOW of cursor placement
