*All submissions that would be a Top 15 time require full video proof in perpetuity. Full video means ONE segment, with full audible game audio. Two split Twitch VoDs or a VoD with partially muted audio is NOT a full video. If you have audio or recording issues, please ask on the [https://www.speedrun.com/yi/thread/q8mf0 leaderboard rules thread] or in the [https://discordapp.com/invite/cdUzR3Z Discord server]. Do NOT wait until a Top 15 PB to bring up an issue. No exceptions will be granted for status or circumstance, the rules apply to everyone, equally.
*It is highly recommended, but not required, that you locally record your runs if you want to submit to the leaderboard, in case your stream goes down for any reason. OBS can stream and record the same encode. If you have any questions or issues, post on the leaderboard rules thread or ask in the Discord server. We care about new runners and we will help you.

review/revise AI condensed beginner guide:
This guide is for new runners, especially people new to speedrunning.
Choosing a Category
Start with Any% Warpless if you are unsure what to run. It teaches the basics, has the most resources, and has the most active runners.
A good first goal is sub-2 hours.
If you want to run 100%, it is best to learn Warpless first and aim for around sub-1:50. This builds comfort with movement, tonguing, egg-making, and routing. Starting with 100% is possible, but harder.
Obscure categories have fewer guides and fewer people to help.
Join the Yoshi Discord to ask questions, learn strategies, and talk with other runners.
Learning the Game
Do not rely only on the wiki. Some pages are outdated.
The best way to learn is by combining PB videos, wiki info, IL WRs, and Discord advice.
Kolthor’s PB is a good beginner reference because the strategies are still approachable. IL WRs are useful too, but some strategies are too risky for full runs.
If a trick is not working, use a slower backup and return to it later. Watch different runners, especially around the 1:50 range, since they often use safer strategies than top runners. Comparing routes can help you find methods that fit your skill level.
Improving
Focus on movement first. Tricks save time, but clean movement matters more.
Avoid deaths and hits. Early on, most time loss comes from dying, getting hit, or losing Baby Mario. Staying alive will improve your times quickly.
Do not obsess over final time. Set small goals each run, like finishing cleaner levels or landing specific tricks.
Finish runs instead of constantly resetting. The game is long, and you need practice in later worlds too. Stamina matters.
Use fewer flutters over time. They are safe, but slow. Learn clean movement instead of relying on extra flutters.
Your main goals:
Move cleanly. Stay alive. Finish runs.

Generic problems
- Tutorial videos for advanced tricks like gatehacks, chicken baxter etc.
- re-add if/when it's public again Warps (1-1 to 2-8) (2014) Warps (Old)
- Full-game warpless tutorials. 1 video per level with commentary would be a good format. Include alternate strats, easier strats and optimal strats. Explain egg counts.
- Updated tutorial for all the 1-1 warps. (1 long video or short videos covering each warp individually)
- Full-game 100% tutorials.
- 5-4 skip tutorial. Make sure to mention half skip.
- Merge TAS guide and TAS tricks together
- Enemy list
- SNES vs GBA differences. (Not super important)
- Level pages. Update videos if needed. Included bullet point lists with text breakdowns. 1-1 is a good example but still needs some work. Make gifs to go along with the text breakdowns. 1-1 100% is a good example but again, still needs work.
- Visual aesthetics for all pages so they're not just plain white. Maybe we could use backgrounds from the game in a similar way to how the leaderboards are done http://www.speedrun.com/yi
